ASG Long Identifier Announcement

RoAccess switched to the new Rochade Long Names.

Long Names/Identifiers is an excellent example of why RoAccess is of extreme benefit to Rochade users.

RoAccess implemented Long Identifiers for version 5.x Rochade databases long before Rochade V6 long identifiers.

Back in February, 1997,  Rochade said it would be implementing Long Identifiers.  However, at that time our customers "just to be safe" requested that we implement an "interim" Long Identifiers capability to cover the period between then and when Rochade would eventually deliver a full Long Identifiers capacity as implemented in both its database and all internal software (e.g. Autopilot, scanners).   We did so thinking it would be only 3 or 6 months until we would then switch over to use Rochade Long Identifiers.  However, as of October 1, 2002, Rochade long names are still not yet available (the database is, but not the ASG related software).

The advantage to RoAccess users is that even today, years later, while ASG is still working to deliver its Long Identifier capability, RoAccess users have been using Long Identifiers all the meanwhile!   We feel RoAccess is able to more quickly take advantage of new approaches and more quickly respond to changing user needs than ASG is.
