A Customer Recommendation
The vast majority of the sales of RoAccess are by current customers recommending to other companies that they analyze and consider RoAccess for their Rochade Repository applications and WEB access.  This is one such email.  We were only copied.

At the time we purchased RoAccess, Viasoft did not have a viable web based product.  Viasoft sold us RoAccess as part of the product package we bought from them.  They have since come out with a new web product. I reviewed it last year when it came out.  My recommendations were that we keep RoAccess.

We did not like the way the ASG product behaved.  We really like the way that RoAccess will show you all attributes and links to other items in a frame on the right side.  I think in the ASG product you had to drill down somewhat and the amount of information was not the same.

We take advantage of one of the best added features which is the "long name" support provided by RoAccess.(more info can be found at: http://roaccess.com/rochade_products/docs/long_names.html )  It gets us around the 32 character naming limit in Rochade.  You can also store more metadata about the attributes in RoAccess through extended
attributes about an item type. (More info: http://roaccess.com/ro-access/htdocs/help/attribute_metadata.html  - you
may need a password from RoAccess to see this - email "support @ august.com")  It is very handy.  I think it will be even more
beneficial as we get into developing custom front ends.  It's amazing to see what other companies have done.  If you look on their website, you  can see many good ideas implemented by other companies and they could only have done it with RoAccess. (http://roaccess.com/rochade_products/docs/new.html)

They have a feature that helps with security also.  Unless a user is an ADM, they have read only access.  You can set up other security via profiles, but I found that managing security via autopilot was cumbersome for what we needed.

You can customize the screens quickly, by adding your own graphics in a file that is set up for that purpose.  That file also allows you to make custom changes to the look and feel of the product.  RoAccess has very easy-to-understand documentation.  It is very thorough, also.

Also,  the support is wonderful.  I get more help from Dennis Simpson, their developer.  What you read on the website is true.  I'm not the only one who sings his praises.  I was out there late looking around last night for more ideas.  Dennis goes above and beyond what any vendor does.  If you have a good idea that would benefit several companies, he incorporates it into the product.  No cost - and quickly.  Part of the reason I love RoAccess is because Dennis comes with it.  Even when I have a problem that is not related to RoAccess, Dennis helps.  He is also a Rochade expert.   I can not tell you what an asset Dennis is!! And his response is so fast.  He is patient and will walk you through anything you need to know.

To be honest, I don't know if I believe vendors (ASG) when they tell me they are making it "better."  I really do like RoAccess and the price is right.  They also have a product called RoLoader which allows you to take spreadsheet data and load it into Rochade.  By the way, RoAccess also allows you to extract metadata into spreadsheet format in case you want to do something else with it.  Last I heard, Rochade could not do that.  I don't know about the web product though.  We have a bunch of information that was stored in Excel spreadsheets that I brought into Rochade through RoLoader.    Dennis is also real good about evaluating his software before you buy it.  I wish I could do the same with ASG.  I sent him your email indicating you might be interested so you might hear from him.  I really like RoAccess and I would never trade it for an ASG product.

If you have any specific questions, please let me know.  I'll be more than happy to talk to you about this if you want me to call you.
