Project Management Using RoAccess

This is an example of how one company is using RoAccess to utilize their Rochade Repository in non-traditional ways.  It shows how a good Repository and Application Development System (RoAccess) can meet your ever growing company needs, using user friendly front ends that non technical people can easily use.
 

Features:

  • A User Friendly Front End using standard HTML hyperlinks allow direct entry at different levels to non technical users and clients
  • Projects: There are three basis projects: Activities, Projects, and Sub Projects
  • Any of these three can have
  • Personnel assigned
  • Personnel who just want to receive email correspondence
  • Documents attached
  • Email can be sent to all project member and those wanting to be on the emailing list with the click of a button
  • Reports include Graphics, Spreadsheets and Indented List style Path Reports

    First, the screens are customized, to show only the required buttons.  Some screens have additional buttons appear based on the content of the screen.

    After logging in, you list available ItemTypes:
     

    You can select one of the various levels of projects, documents and people.

    In  this case, select Activities.  In this case, there are three highest level project types.

    Click on METADATA-WAREHOUSE to see:
    Note: you can see the URL for the project, administration information, people who are administrators, people and groups of people who are on the team.  At the bottom you see one document attached so far.

    If you click on the document link, you get:


    Note you can download the document with a click, display info about the author, find every project and level that this document is linked to, plus the prior version of the document.

    You can drill down all the way to the contained Sub Projects, too:


    If you click the Mail All button, you can create a pre addressed mailer popup that is addressed to not only all the people assigned to the project, but also those people who requested to be on the emailing list, so they could just be aware of the progress of the project.  If you click the Mail All button, you first get:

    User Friendly Front End:

    This page is HTML created with an simple HTML editor.  Note how it has hyperlinks that can go directly into various places in RoAccess bypassing the Login and other pages.  Some links are browse only, and assign the read-only GUEST account.  Other allow updating, so pop up password windows and allow you to specify your user login account.

    The following  is a sample of the "List Presentation":
     

    These are live hyperlinks, that will popup displays of these Items.  Note: this show a complete hierarchy of projects, sub projects, and people.

    If you select a simple hierarchy graphic, you will see something like this:

    Clicking on any one of these objects, will pop up its display page.  As always, if you have permission, you can then switch into Edit mode and make changes right then.

    If you select a complete hierarchy report, you will see something like:
     

    Note: even people are displayed.

    If you select a SpreadSheet presentation, you will get something like the following:
     

    This can be 1 or hundreds of Items long, and can convey a great deal of information at a glance.  Of course, this information could be sent directly to Excel for you to further manipulate or write other reports from.
