| The above screen captures
shows a Rochade Item with 4 different blob attributes, each containing a stored
file. Click on the icon, the documents is automatically downloaded and is
displayed in the correct application. Each Item Type can have binary/blob attributes. These attributes can contain files or graphics. RoAccess allows you to upload files of many types, such as Excel or Lotus 123 spreadsheets, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint presentations, voice clips, avi movie clips, any kind of graphics, plus many other file types. You can then merely click on the icon, that file will be downloaded and its application will be automatically run. This allows documentation to be included with your data in its Repository, rather than having to be stored someplace else. Binary/Blob attributes are a standard Rochade capability. These attributes can contain files of any type. However, if you are using ASG's Web Access, you cannot store the file name or a description of the file. So if you later want to get that file, you won't be able to find out its file name, its file type or any description of it all. This sort of make a Blob attributes almost useless. Also, sometimes Web Access only allows you to store a specific file type in an attribute, like only a .doc or a .gif file. However, RoAccess remembers the file name, and allows you to
input an optional one-line Description of the file for documentation
purposes.
You can store absolutely any file type in any RoAccess blob attribute. |
