RoAccess

Graphic Diagrams for Path Reports
"A picture is worth a thousand words."

RoAccess now is able to create on-the-fiy complex diagrams from path reports.

With Autopilot, you usually run the path report, and then manually have to drag symbols around to make the graphic legible.  This is a thing of the past.

With RoAccess, all the layouts are completely automatically done so they are already legible and make sense.

Remember: these same graphics can display your warehouse, business objects, scanner outputs, schema and other very complex relationships just as well.

Advanced Graphics Path Report
You are given two grahics modes: Simple and Advanced.  With Advanced, you get a lot
of options.

The following Advanced graphical path report diagram starts with a ORGANIZATION, then lists the associated ORGANIZATIONS,  PROJECTS and CONTRACTS

contract_graphics

This was completely automatically generated.  No had layout was done!  The display option was "Left-to-Right".

Each ItemType had a shape, color and filling pre-specified.  Click on any symbol, and a full Item Display/Edit page will popup.

Note: The above is "Top-to-Bottom".

Simple Path Report
The following graphical path report diagram starts with a CONTRACT, then lists the associated ORGANIZATIONS, then finds the PROJECTs involved and the PERSONS associated with those PROJECTs.

This was completely automatically generated.  No had layout was done!

Each of the circles when clicked brings up that item for display or editing, if you have edit permission.

Each ITEMTYPE has a different auto-assigned color.

Another Simple Path Report
The following graphical path report diagram starts with an ORGANIZATION, then lists a lot more Items with relationships.

Yet Another Simple Path Report
The following graphical path report diagram starts with an Organization, then lists the other matching path Items.

This was completely automatically generated.  No had layout was done!  The circles are live links to the data.

A Larger, More Complex Graphics
Do you remember how long it takes to hand lay out a RIM diagram?  If you have hundreds of graphical elements, you may spend  hours or more on the layout.

Do you know how long it takes you to make the same diagram with RoAccess:  about 20 seconds!

Below is a RIM diagram for the RoAccess RIM that ships with RoAccess.   This diagram was completely automatically generated!  Really!

Very Complex Diagram
Get ready for this!

The following path report output diagram is for a more complex RIM.

Again, it was completely automatically generated!  Again, really!

Clicking on any of the Items will bring up a complete display of that Item, including the forward links and the links from referring Items, so you can for forwards and backwards following hyperlinks.

The Item displays are in a completely separate window.  We found that displaying in the same window as the graphic, and then doing a BACK to return to the diagram, lost the place and many
times scrolled the graphics back up to the top.  When working on a large diagram, you certainly don't want to keep losing your place.  RoAccess makes things convenient for you!

The point we want to make is that no matter how complicated your diagram is, RoAccess can probably draw it in real-time, with live hyperlinks.

How to Generate Diagrams
What are the steps:
  • View the list of Items on the left,
  • Click on the Path Reports icon at the top.
  • Select the particular Path Report by name.
  • Select the output format, such as Indented Report, Non-Indented Report, and now Simple Graphic report
  • Set a few optional parameters such as size of drawing and minimum line length
  • Select the starting "seed" Item from the list of Items for the report
  • Click the Display Path Report button

  • The graphic displays in the right pane.

That is all there is to it!

Since the Items List is on the left and the graphic is on the right, you can quickly do a graphical Path Report for one Item, then another, then another in quick succession
